Safety

You should always do your research when choosing a newborn photographer. To help ensure your and your baby’s safety, I have all of the following:

  • A current Working With Children Check

  • Covid 19 vaccination (completed September 2021)

  • Whooping cough vaccination (received during my pregnancy in July 2020)

  • Fully immunised, as are all members of my family

  • Annual flu shot (received May 2021)

  • I am fully insured

  • Have completed my Infant CPR and First Aid Certificate (May 2019)

  • Recognised photographer with the Academy of Newborn Photographers after completing my Certificate in Newborn Photography

Your baby’s safety is my number one priority and I do everything I can to ensure their safety and comfort at all times during my sessions. This is more important to me than any photograph.

In addition to the above, I value being mentored by talented and responsible Australian and international newborn and related industry photographers so that I can learn from the best and keep developing my skills and understanding of safe posing, techniques and all things newborn photography. I have been mentored by Amy Tong of Amy Tong Photography in Sydney and attended a workshop in February 2019 with Naomi Hewitt from the USA to learn all things newborn. I am always completing online study on safety processes, techniques and working to improve my skills and keep myself informed.

FAQs

What do I wear!?

Never fear, I totally understand that this can sometimes be the most stressful part of having photos done! Once you book your session I send out a copy of my Style Guide, which has lots of tips and advice to picking the perfect outfit for the whole family. I also have a selection of dresses available in my client closet which are available for use and can be found on my Instagram page in the Client Closet highlight. Feel free to send me photos of what you’re thinking and ask any questions at all, it’s what I’m here for!

How do I prepare my baby for their newborn session?

Once your Bub arrives and we have locked in a date for your newborn session, I will send you a copy of my Newborn Preparation Guide. It has lots of information as to how best prepare baby, as well as what you can expect in the session and what to pack with you on the day. This is an amazing resource, but it’s also realistic in reminding you that babies will be babies, and we work through the session by taking their lead on that day. Regardless, I promise you will get beautiful images.

My partner hates having photos taken!

Fun fact, there are very few people who love having their photo taken! I do it as a job and I still hate having my own done! But this is why you hire a professional! It’s up to me to get genuine laughs by making a fool of myself or cracking some rude jokes. I try and do everything in my power to make it fun and not awkward. And if you have kids with you for the photos, just focus on them like you normally would and forget I am even there.
